A slightly dim bar full of red and brown hues, Ann Arbor's Alley Bar is one of the most unique locales the city has to offer. While it may sound a bit, well, icky, their pickle back is anything but. With fresh McClure Michigan pickles and your choice of a shot of whiskey, the pickle back will soon move from a crowd favorite to one of your favorites. As they themselves declare, "Trust us", it's delicious. They also have some pretty creative drink options, like their "Edna at Noon", a grey tea infused shot.

Grange Kitchen & Bar is an up and coming restaurant in Ann Arbor. Although the restaurant displays a clear link to the past with their brick interior, their main focus is local food and sustainability. However, a little prudence is required at Grange. If some of the menu choices seem a bit unfamiliar, opting for their 5 course tasting menu is a great choice. For an appetizer, their chorizo, blue cheese and date dish is worth every last penny.
