Bars in Lansing:

Soup Spoon Cafe

Address:
1419 E Michigan Ave
Lansing, MI 48912
Phone:
(517) 316-2377
Soup Soon Cafe is the place for brunch in Lansing. To start your day off right, look straight for the "Breakfast Sammys" on their menu. My go-to is Matt's Morning Slider, Canadian bacon, tomatoes and a fried egg between an English muffin. For vegetarians, look for the Gabriel's Gone Veggie, a toasted wheat sandwich with a fried egg, avocados, grilled peppers and a few other vegetables. If it's your first time visiting the Soup Soon, try their soup flight. You get a good-sized sample of four different soups and a serving of French bread.

Sansu Sushi and Cocktails

Address:
4750 S Hagadorn Rd Ste 100
East Lansing, MI 48823
Phone:
(517) 333-1933
If you're looking for sushi, you won't find a better place in Lansing than Sansu. The presentation of their sushi and sashimi platter is so spectacular that I have second thoughts before tearing into it. But the guilt is gone after the first few bites. For lunch, the Udon and Yaki Soba soups are a little out of the ordinary, but they make for a filling lunch nonetheless. The sushi bar has ample seating, and the sake and Japanese inspired drinks are spot on. Sansu is packed on weekends, so be sure to reserve a table in advance.

Crunchy's

Address:
254 West Grand River
East Lansing, MI 48823
Phone:
(517) 351-2506
Less than a mile away from Michigan State's campus, there's no denying Crunchy's is a college bar. Nearly two dozen beers are on tap at any given time, including Michigan craft beer favorites like Bell's and Founder's. What makes Crunchy's one of my favorite places is their equal parts restaurant and bar. If you need a filling appetizer to go with your craft beer, order off their "Buckets of Food" menu, where you'll find options like the Pizza Nugs and Stout Sliders. For those on the hungrier side, their menu is packed with all sorts of wraps, sandwiches and burgers, along with chicken wings and six types of sauces.

The Green Door

Address:
2005 E. Michigan Ave
Lansing, Michigan 48912
Phone:
(517) 482-6376
The Green Door is a one-stop-shop for a great night out in Lansing. While a blues bar at heart, The Green Door has a full menu of dinner options. For me, the Black and Tan burger goes perfectly with a stout beer from one of the numerous microbreweries they have on tap. You can also build your own burger with options like chili, sautéed onions, olive sauce and typical toppings like lettuce, tomato and onions. With a music act nearly every night, you can count and staying long after you've finished your meal.

Deluca's

Address:
2006 W Willow Street
Lansing, MI 48917
Phone:
(517) 487-6087
Although the setting's definitely upscale, you won't be seeing any fancy bite-sized meals at Deluca's. Specializing in hearty Italian dishes, everything from their appetizers to their main entrees are sure to satisfy. I love their cheese bread appetizer! It starts with a few rolls of fresh baked Italian bread, and then gets covered in cheese, olive oil and sauces. In all, it's a far cry from what some places call cheese bread. The pizza menu here is bigger than some restaurants' entire menus. With twenty some toppings to choose from, anybody will be able to create their dream pizza at Deluca's.

Spud's Family Restaurant

Address:
611 S Waverly Rd
Lansing, MI 48917
Phone:
(517) 321-4840
If a college bar or fusion restaurant with menu items the kids can hardly pronounce doesn't interest you, Spud's is a great alternative for the whole family. Offering some of the biggest portions you'll find in Lansing, Spud's has that homey feel that keeps me coming back. The breakfast menu is the highlight here with its amazing hash browns, omelettes and, especially, the biscuits and gravy. The waitstaff is excellent, and along with the food and wait times, this restaurant one of Lansing's best.
