Bars in Pontiac:

Jalapeños

Address:
806 Baldwin Ave
Pontiac, MI 48340
Phone:
(248) 454-0887
One of Pontiac's hottest restaurants, Jalapeños is a restaurant wholly dedicated to Mexican food. While there's no shortage of tacos, burritos and quesadillas here, they have more unique options such as a lobster bisque with agave tequila, and shrimp and scallops. Jalapeños is known all throughout Pontiac simply for their chips and salsa. Order up a side of these and a margarita for your wait, and you'll soon realize you couldn't have chosen a better Mexican restaurant. The menu is almost completely Spanish, so if you're having some difficulties choosing, go for the steak fajita or their Chile Rellenos.

Mi Zarape

Address:
3800 Centerpoint Pkwy
Pontiac, MI 48341
Phone:
(248) 454-8608
Pontiac is no stranger to great Mexican food, and Mi Zarape is a testament to that. With a full bar and a quiet, casual ambience, you'll be staying well past your meal. You'll hardly get in the door without hearing about their guacamole salad. This is hands-down the best way to start a night at Mi Sarape. Their burritos are HUGE, and, for the most part, they're ordered to taste. If you're hungry in the Pontiac area, a drive out to Mi Zarape is always a good choice.

L & J Soul Food

Address:
45788 Woodward Ave
Pontiac, MI 48341
Phone:
(248) 335-9130
For a great home cooked meal that has you loosening your belt as soon as you get back to the car, you won't find better than L & J. Home cooked is no exaggeration here: You watch the food being cooked in front of you, and you can order it to your taste. Best of all, the pricing here is great. $15 is more than enough to fill you up. For newbies, I'd start with the fried chicken and work your way up to the more soul food options like meatloaf, collard greens and ribs.

Fino's Coney Island

Address:
450 N Perry Street
Pontiac, MI 48342
Phone:
(248) 334-6116
Fino's is a quaint coney island not far from Downtown Pontiac. While a city like Pontiac is packed full of coney islands, Fino's stand out for a few reasons. Number one, I cannot get enough of their chicken finger pita wraps. I don't know what it is, but I've never had one like theirs. They also have a great breakfast menu, and it's cheap too! You can fill up the kids for under $5. But perhaps what I like most about this place is the staff. The owner is a very personable guy and is great dealing with customers. The waitstaff are also nice and very quick to remember their usual customers.

Stuffed Bun

Address:
603 E Walton Blvd
Pontiac, MI 48340
Phone:
(248) 373-2840
The Stuffed Bun is a purely breakfast restaurant, never staying open past 2pm. But that's what's great about them! They know their specialty and they deliver perfection every single visit. Their omelettes go way outside the box. Personally, my favorite is the Hawaiian. While pineapples and eggs may not sound too good together, once you throw in the ham you have heaven. If you go in there starving, their gigantic breakfast burrito will not disappoint you. If you can work with the Stuffed Bun's time constraints, you'll find your breakfast there to be a worthy adventure.

Motor City Burgers & Co.

Address:
44911 Woodward Ave
Pontiac, MI 48341
Phone:
(248) 451-0075
A restaurant with a very evident pride in their location, Motor City Burgers & Co. is one of the best locations in Pontiac, if not all of Metro Detroit. Here you'll find classic Motown food: coney dogs, loose burgers and Faygo out of the bottle. For a guy who's a staunch carnivore, their veggie burger was awesome! What a surprise. The Big Three Burger, with three patties, is enough to fill up an army, and the Greek Burger, with feta cheese and tzatziki sauce, is great for something new. Actually, anything off their "gourmet" burgers are well worth the trip.
